Overnight Severe Thunderstorm Watch

As a tropical wave affects the island overnight, thunderstorm activity is possible. Therefore, the Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.

This alert is issued when significant lightning activity is possible within the watch area.

Take note of the possible impacts:
-Lighting activity at or near your location could result in power outages if lighting strikes power utility infrastructure -Persons are reminded that lightning strikes can be life-threatening.

The public is encouraged to monitor the DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further information on what you should do.

This Severe Thunderstorm Watch is valid from 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 25, and will be terminated at 6 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, September 26, or sooner if conditions warrant..
