A tropical wave is producing intermittent thunderstorm activity over and around the island.
Although severe thunderstorm activity has diminished throughout the morning, the instability associated with the tropical wave will continue fluctuating throughout the day. Therefore, the Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
Take note of the following possible impacts:
•Lighting activity at or near your location could result in power outages if lighting strikes power utility infrastructure •Persons are reminded that lightning strikes can be life-threatening.
The public should follow recommendations from the Department of Emergency Management and monitor the BMS, DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further updates.
This watch was issued at 9 a.m. and will be updated/terminated at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, or sooner if conditions warrant.
