Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society James Paul, is asking Government to take control of the high volume of processed poultry products being imported from Jamaica.
He says local poultry producers are facing challenges getting their chicken sold due to the importation of breaded poultry products.
He addressed the issue during a press conference.
In response, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security Indar Weir says imported breaded poultry products cannot be affecting the local poultry industry since local producers are finding it difficult to keep pace with the demand for fresh chicken.
Mr. Weir adds that farmers told Mr. Paul during a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture they do not have a problem with the processed product coming into Barbados.
