A sister city agreement is to be signed between Bridgetown and New York City.
The signing set for October 9 is among a slate of activities planned for the Centennial Commemoration of the birthday of Shirley Chisholm.
Chisholm, born on November 30, 1924, was the oldest of four daughters to immigrant parents Charles St. Hill from Guyana and Ruby Seale St. Hill from Barbados.
She is the first African American woman in Congress and the first female African American to seek the nomination for president of the United States.
Project Lead with the Sister City Agreement, Chetwyn Ryce says the agreement touches on many aspects, including the youth, technology and crime prevention.
