National Rower Kyle Spenard finished in 42nd position after only a one-time trial was possible on Friday’s opening day of the World Rowing Beach Sprint Championships in Genoa, Italy.
Spennard’s time was three minutes, 06.47 seconds over the 500-metre distance in the men’s coastal men’s solo division.
Bad weather had delayed the start of the championships by two days, and the challenging surf conditions Friday meant that the second round of time trials had to be cancelled.
Therefore the top 16 in each time trial qualified for the knockout rounds, thus leaving Spennard without the opportunity to possibly redeem himself and so he did not advance.
