Barbados Formula 2 driver Zane Maloney has qualified 4th for Sunday’s feature race in Baku, Azerbaijan, positioning himself ahead of immediate championship rivals Gabriel Bortoleto and current leader Isack Hadjar, who qualified 6th and 15th respectively.
Maloney kept his composure and delivered a strong lap, just 0.271 seconds off pole-sitter Richard Verschoor’s top time of one hour, 54.857 seconds.
Zane, who heads into this weekend’s racing third in the driver’s standings on 135 points, will also start 7th on the grid in tomorrow’s sprint race.
