Member of Parliament for St. Michael North Davidson Ishmael is asking experienced citizens to help young people find positive opportunities.
According to Mr. Ishmael, based on feedback from constituents young people are not aware of Government-funded training programmes and other opportunities.
He says the youth should be directed from a life of crime to activities that would enhance their lives.
Mr. Ishmael was addressing the St. Michael North Back to School Rally and Gospel Spectacular.
Mr. Ishmael adds young people must also be encouraged to look for sources of employment.
During the event, children were treated to inspirational speeches and performances from gospel artistes including Pastor John Yarde and James Leacock.
The children also received gifts.
Reverend Davidson Bowen of Christ the King Anglican Church reminded parents that they should not be friends with their children.
