With two wins and three no results due to rain, the Barbados under-17s had to settle for the second spot behind hosts Trinidad and Tobago, in the CWI Rising Stars Under-17 50-over Championship.
Playing in the fifth and final round match at Inshan Ali Park last evening, the young Barbadians needed to win to overtake T&T on the points table.
However, the rain ended Barbados’ title defence and forced another no result.
Sent into bat, the T&T boys were bowled out for 159 off 46.4 overs.
They were led with 46 from Christian Lall, while Zachary Carter took four for 20.
In reply, Barbados under-17s were 28 for one after five overs, when heavy rain forced umpires to call off play.
