Barbados Royals defends Women’s CPL title

A superb spell from pacer Aaliyah Alleyne helped Barbados Royals Women to their 2nd straight Massy Women’s Caribbean Premier League title.

Player of the Match Alleyne took 4-21 as the Royals defeated hosts Trinbago Knight Riders Women in the final by four wickets at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy this afternoon.

Sent into bat T.K.R were held to a below par 93-8 in their 20 overs.

Shikha Pandey top scored with 28.

In reply, the Royals got off to a good start to reach 69 for 2 after 10 overs, but then limped home on 94-6 in 15 overs to lift the trophy.

Chamari Athapaththu finished 39 not out, while Samara Ramnath took 2-18.
