The Barbados Meteorological Services has continued to monitor closely the progress of Potential Tropical Cyclone #5 which is about 280 miles or 450 km northeast of Barbados.
However, there are no watches or warnings in effect for the island.
This feature is projected to pass north of Barbados between tonight and early Tuesday morning, August 13.
The Met Office predicted Potential Tropical Cyclone #5 will bring occasional heavy to intense showers and may generate rainfall accumulations of up to 2 inches.
The public should also note there is the possibility of flash flooding in some areas and gusty winds near showers.
BMS has forecast sea swells will become agitated which may particularly affect the southern and western coastlines with swells ranging from 1.5m to 2.5m.
Aircraft reconnaissance is currently investigating the system which is located near 15.1N 55.6W.
The system is moving towards the west at 26mph/ 41km/h with a minimal central pressure of 1010mb.
The system is predicted to move across the Leeward Islands tonight into Tuesday morning.
There is the possibility of some development and a tropical depression could form later today or tonight.
The public is encouraged to monitor official sources for further updates over the coming days.
