A local trade unionist has described Government’s proposed serious organised crime unit as a potential waste of resources.
General Secretary of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB) Dennis de Peiza says the proposed unit is likely to duplicate the work already being done by specially trained police officers.
He says instead, Government should be injecting the Barbados Police Service with additional manpower and resources.
Mr. de Peiza was addressing a press conference this morning.
Mr. de Peiza is also calling on law enforcement officials to track the sources of illegal firearms coming into the country.
