Opening Batter Mikyle Louis is set to make his test debut today when the Windies take on hosts England in the first Rothesay Test at Lord’s from tomorrow.
Louis, the first player from St. Kitts to play test cricket for the Windies, will open the batting with his Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite.
He gets the nod over Barbados’ opener Zachary McCaskie.
Louis signalled his readiness for the task with scores of 50 and 28 in the lone warm-up tour match last week against a county eleven.
West Indies Captain Kraigg Brathwaite, says other youth players should use Louis’ achievement as motivation.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Jason Holder, who missed the test series in Australia earlier this year due to other commitments, will return to West Indies’ playing eleven.
Brathwaite says Holder is an asset to the team, as he’ll be slotted in to bat at number six.
The full team includes Kraigg Brathwaite, Mikyle Louis, Kirk Mckenzie, Alick Athanaze, Kavem Hodge, Jason Holder, Joshua Da Silva, Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph And Jayden Seales.
The first test bowls off at 6:00 a.m.
