The Department of Emergency Management, (DEM) has developed a comprehensive disaster management policy document aimed at reducing loss and damage and creating more resilient and safer societies.
This policy, which was approved by Cabinet, ensures there is a strategic direction to keeping people safe and making communities more resilient to disaster and climate-related risks and impacts.
Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams has lauded the DEM for the initiative.
He urged all shareholders, Governmental and nongovernmental, to make full use of the instructive policy document as the country endeavours to create a Barbados that is more resilient to disasters and climate-related risks.
