Disabled Barbadians stand to benefit from access to wider resources under less bureaucratic circumstances than is presently the case, with the imminent transformation of the island’s social services institutional framework.
MP for St. James North and Disabilities Advocate, Edmund Hinkson says this will come as the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs moves ahead with the amalgamation of key departments including that of the National Disabilities Unit.
He updated the United Nations of this and other initiatives in his address before the 17th Session of the Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
