Minister Abrahams responds to World Cup preparation criticism

Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams, has hit back at Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne’s criticism of Government spending, in preparation for the World Cup.

Mr. Thorne has queried how the 50 million dollar loan from the Africa Export-Import Bank has been spent.

Speaking during a BLP St. Michael South Branch meeting yesterday, Mr. Abrahams spoke about some of the projects undertaken with the funds and their benefits.

He said with the upgrades to Kensington Oval, for example, the country now has a stadium that can host any type of event.

Mr. Abrahams also queried why the Opposition Leader did not make use of the open day and town hall meeting at Kensington Oval, to pose any questions he had to the Prime Minister and World Cup organisers.
