May 27, 2024

Alicia Archer secured the bronze medal for Barbados.

At the recently concluded Women’s Singles Eight Ball Pool Tournament at the Wildey Gym.

Archer finished third behind the Jamaican duo Kerrian Powell-Robinson and Lauren Dash.

Powell-Robinson took the ‘Queen of the Green’ title after an unbeaten streak defeating defending champion Dash eight-three in the final.

The tournament, featuring a double-elimination format, gave each competitor a chance to advance even after a first loss.

Dash sailed through the competition from day one, with her standout match coming against American Lenore Donovan-Chen.

Down four-nil, she mounted a remarkable comeback to win six-five, securing her place in the semifinals.

Donovan-Chen then faced off against Barbadian Archer in a tense hill-hill battle, ultimately losing and being eliminated from the competition.

Archer, driven by her initial loss to Powell-Robinson, demonstrated her resilience with a series of three-two victories over Rebecka Carter and Tricia King also of Barbados, and Shazara Baksh of Trinidad, who finished in fourth place.

Despite her determination, Archer couldn’t overcome the skill of the Jamaican pool players and was defeated three-nil by Dash.

This victory allowed Dash a second opportunity to face the newly crowned champion, Powell-Robinson in the finals, but she lost again.

With her unbeaten record intact, Powell-Robinson solidified her status as the ‘Gueen of the Green’ in the region.
