Anglican Bishop the Right Reverend Michael Maxwell is worried about the number of atheists in Barbados.
He says based on a survey completed by the Barbados Statistical Service in 2021, just over 62 thousand people have indicated they are atheists or those who do not believe in the existence of God.
Bishop Maxwell was speaking during a 50th-anniversary service at the Church of Christ The King.
He believes the situation stems from a failure to do missionary work which involves going out and spreading the word.
The Bishop says the church has instead been in pastoral mode, only taking care of the current membership.
