Minister in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs Ryan Straughn has made a case for the protection of children who are non-verbal, from child abuse.
He says one reported case of child abuse is too much, and as adults they have a responsibility to get it right.
Mr. Straughn was contributing to Debate today in the Lower House, on a Resolution on the Report of the Joint Select Committee on the Social Sector and the Environment on the Child Protection Bill.
He also raised concerns about the length of time investigations take.
