The Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) wants adequate resources provided for the island’s teachers along with improved wages.
President Rudy Lovell made the call during the union’s annual general conference opening ceremony.
While the BUT supports moves to establish a teaching service commission, Mr. Lovell has highlighted a number of concerns it wants addressed, including appointments.
He reiterated a call for the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training to implement a national policy for security at all schools on island.
