Mobile phone users will benefit from increased legislative protection come April 1.
That is when phase three of the Mobile Telecommunications Code 2023, will come into effect.
Director of Consumer Protection at the Fair Trading Commission, Dava Leslie-Ward has been explaining what it means for consumers.
She says given the increasing use of artificial intelligence to push advertising on cell phones, the code tries to ensure ai is used in a fair and responsible manner.
Another new obligation imposed on telecom providers relates to the reality that consumers often don’t read their contracts.
