Barbados has seen an exponential increase in the number of people accessing the island’s mental health services.
This is according to Minister of Health and Wellness Dr. The Most Honourable Jerome Walcott, who says this has been evident after the COVID-19 pandemic.
He spoke about the development at a Pan American Health Organisation meeting in Washington DC.
Participants have been discussing a PAHO report on The Strategy for Improving Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in the Americas.
Dr. Walcott told the forum decisive action is required to address the issue.
