The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) says it is closely monitoring the progress of an elongated area of low pressure located in the central Atlantic near 12N 43W.
In its latest weather update the BMS says the system remains small and disorganised with an exposed low-level centre to the east of the deep convection. Environmental conditions are marginally conducive for slow and limited development. Therefore, a tropical depression could form in the next few days.
Regardless of development, this system is expected to track westward and move across the Eastern Caribbean during the early to mid part of next week.
There are currently no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados, however the public is encouraged to monitor official sources over the coming days.
An update will be issued at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, July 23, 2023 or sooner if conditions warrant.
