The Barbados Meteorological Services will be pursuing ISO certification in a bid to be in line with global observation standards.
Director Sabu Best gave the media some insight into the new course for the department during its Open Day for World Meteorological Day.
It featured tours for primary schools and select students from the Samuel Jackman Prescod, giving them the opportunity to see the department’s operations.
Mr. Best also revealed plans for the BMS to use more technology to provide more comprehensive reports.
He says this move builds on the implementation of impact-based forecasting, which was rolled out a few years ago.
