To cap off a highly successful 2022 season, Barbadian Zane Maloney has won the FIA Rookie of the Year Award.
The world champions of all FIA-affiliated championships assembled in Bologna last evening for the FIA prize giving ceremony.
Maloney finished as runner-up in the FIA Formula 3 championship with Trident, after putting together a stellar rookie campaign, taking three consecutive feature race wins to end the season.
Just this week, two days after collecting the John Cooper Trophy at the British Racing Drivers’ Club Awards in London, 19 year old Maloney also was announced as a member of the Red Bull Junior team and a Formula 1 reserve driver for 2023.
Meanwhile, Max Verstappen won the Drivers’ Championship trophy for the second time.
