There was a double win for Mikey Sunday evening at Bushy Park in St Philip.

He managed to beat reigning Sweet Soca King, Red Plastic Bag and successfully defended his Party Monarch title.

Crowd favorite, Lil Rick placed second in both competitions.

RPB was unable to retain the Sweet Soca Crown as he placed 3rd, and Khiomal placed 4th.

In the Party Monarch finals, 3rd place went to Edwin Yearwood, 4th, Khiomal and 5th, new comer, Slim Jim.

Overall, Mikey was pleased with his win saying it is just the beginning.

He also thanked his fans and those associated with team Mikey.

Sunday saw one of the biggest crowds for Soca Royale, since the event moved to Bushy Park a few years ago.

The intermittent rain did not dampen the spirit of the crowd which partied from late morning.

Most of the people are still happy with the St. Philip location.

Food was in abundance and the vendors said business was consistently good.

Though Barbadians are known to prefer to party when it is cooler, some of those attending the show felt it should have started earlier.
