The umbrella body for credit unions and co-operatives, is calling for a dedicated seat at the social partnership table.
President of the Barbados Co-operative and Credit Union League, Anderson Henry, made the appeal as the organisation celebrates its 60th anniversary.
Mr. Henry was speaking during an anniversary dinner and awards gala, Saturday evening.
He wants the new administration to create credit-union specific legislation, as he says the current legislation passed in the 1950's is outdated.
He also wants government to create access to deposit insurance safety nets, to protect the more than 200 thousand credit union members.
