A 70-year-old cruise ship passenger from Britain is dead after encountering difficulties while snorkelling in Carlisle Bay Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred around ten minutes to two.
The female visitor was a passenger onboard the cruise ship, the Aurora.
Police say she was assisted by medical technicians who were present on the dive boat and was taken ashore where she was then transported via ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
She was however pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations are continuing.
