4H awards
03 Jul

The 4H movement in Barbados has a long and rich history.

In fact, coordinator Hamilton Blackman says it's a movement which creates farmers, having sparked the interest of many of the more successful practitioners across the island.

He adds that beyond agriculture, the 4H continues to provide a well rounded citizen through the wide variety of other programmes it provides.

Mr Blackman was addressing a ceremony for the winners of the group's latest agriculture competition.

A number of children from 4H clubs across the island took part and were awarded in various categories, including best rabbit project, best garden, best container garden and best potted plant display.

Chairman of the local movement Osmond Harewood, also addressed the ceremony, telling the participants there's a vast market for agricultural products in Barbados, allowing them to make a good living in the sector.
