More Barbadians are coming forward for treatment after being diagnosed with lupus.
This is according to president of the Hope Foundation, Shelly Weir.
She was speaking on the sidelines of a seminar to assist newly diagnosed patients at the Accra Beach Hotel Sunday.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system attacks its self.
Barbados has the second highest number of cases per capita in the world.
Ms Weir says the growing number of Barbadians coming forward for treatment is making the job of health care practitioners a lot easier.
Ms Weir says while health care officials in Barbados are doing a lot to improve the quality of life for those diagnosed with the disease, she wants patients to go the extra mile as well.
