A 22 year old Trinidadian Harvard student is this year's winner of the prestigious Caribbean Rhodes scholarship.
Mandela Patrick was announced winner by acting governor general Sir Philip Greaves earlier Tuesday at Government House.
Selected from a field of nine candidates which included two Trinidadians, one St Lucian, one Bahamian, one Antiguan, one Dominican and Barbadians nia Brathwaite, Dario Clarke and Dominique Lovell; Patrick became the latest winner of the award which was introduced in the 1950's.
Come October 2018, Patrick will be pursuing masters degrees in computer science and statistics at Oxford University in the UK.
The varsity squash player says his vision is to transform the Caribbean through technology.
