The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has benefitted from over $11 million dollars in donations in the last few years.
This revelation came from chief executive officer, Dr. Dexter James who was speaking as the hospital was presented with another generous donation from the Chinese government.
Dr. James says he has been in discussion with the head of the Chinese medical team on loan to Barbados on future areas of cooperation.
One such area is elective joint replacement.
Meanwhile Barbados is well on its way to achieving its goal of becoming a medical tourism destination.
In fact, Health Minister John Boyce reveals that visitors have already been taking advantage of the island's health care services.
Chinese Ambassador to Barbados Wang Ke, speaks highly of the island's healthcare system.
She believes that China's agreement with Barbados to provide medical support, could be mutually beneficial to both territories.
