Government foots the majority of the 700 hundred million dollar health care bill each year.

Despite this, Health Minister John Boyce says government remains committed to providing affordable services for all.

Minister Boyce was speaking from the hospital's boardroom, where he accepted a donation of medical equipment and supplies from the Chinese government.

The donation worth over 400 thousand dollars, follows the signing of an agreement between the two governments last October.

Under the arrangement, 8 Chinese doctors and nurses have also been working at the QEH since December but are set to return home in June.

According to Chinese ambassador to Barbados Wang Ke the next set of doctors will stay for one year instead of six months as was initially stated.
