Another Barbadian female has joined the ever-growing centenarians club.
Marielot Coppin was the toast of the day, at the Geriatric Hospital, as she celebrated the milestone surrounded by family, friends, well-wishers and geriatric hospital staff.
The birthday lady was extremely delighted to have Governor General Dame Sandra Mason joining in the celebrations for her 100th birthday.
Dame Sandra brought with her a bouquet, and also offered a toast in Marielot's honor.
Marielot, who has no children, loved cooking and attending church.
She says she was a hard worker, but due to problems with her feet she had to stop working.
Marielot overall is excited to have reached 100 years.
Meanwhile, Marielot's nephew, Jeffrey remembers his aunt who worked as a caretaker and domestic worker, as someone who loved walking and was a quiet and reserved woman.
He says she always wanted to live to make it to 100 years.
