Government has to work with all stakeholders to get Barbadians onboard in the management of non-communicable diseases.
This view was expressed by Minister of Labour, Dr Esther Byer Suckoo during the launch of the new Pharma Wellness Information Technology platform, website and public programme at the Maria Holder Diabetes Center in Warrens.
The new digital IT platform allows members to receive and store their biometric data and other relevant information on their smart phones, instead of their booklets.
Dr Byer Suckoo says technology is also useful in the fight against these diseases.
The Barbados Workers Union is onboard with the initiative.
Senior assistant general secretary, Orlando ‘Gabby’ Scott sees the platform as visionary.
He says the union is concerned about the health of the workforce and the impact ill health can have.
CEO of Pharma Wellness International Incorporated Lennox Prescod says the programme was developed using local talent.
