Barbados picked up its final medal of the 2018 Carifta games Monday night - a silver, in a very exciting and competitive 4x400 metre relay for the under-20 boys.

The Barbadian quartet of Antoni Hoyte-Small, Rasheem Griffith, Tafari Bishop and Jonathan Jones laid on a strong challenge to eventual winners Jamaica to run away with a commendable second place.

That medal meant Barbados finished fourth at the games in the Bahamas.

Their medal count was 13 - three gold, five silver and five bronze.

Perennial winners Jamaica took home 82 medals with 44 gold, 27 silver and 11 bronze.

Bahamas were 2nd with 35 medals, and Trinidad third with 17.

Barbados’ final gold medal was by Jonathan Miller in the under-20 boys’ triple jump with a distance of 15.63 metres.

Miller's victory came on the heels of Jonathan Jones retaining his under-20 boys 800 meter title by winning the event in convincing style.

He crossed the line in 1 min, 49.58 seconds.

Another medal on the final day was by Sarah Belle, who copped bronze in the under-17 girls 100 metre hurdles.

She finished behind the two Jamaicans in a time of 13.55 seconds.
