A government minister wants workers to change the way they regard sick days.

Labour Minister Dr. Esther Byer-Suckoo says some people abuse the system.

The minister was speaking at a meeting of the stakeholders of the proposed national wellness policy at Solidarity House.

Quoting startling statistics, general secretary of the BWU Toni Moore says such a policy is important because non-communicable diseases present a major developmental challenge for the country as they take a toll on the workforce and impose a burden on the economy.

Chairman of the Commission for Non-Communicable Diseases Professor Sir Trevor Hassell wants to see a society where healthy living is the easier and more affordable choice. 11.41 - 13.46
