The state of some schools and their compliance with the Safety and Health at Work Act remains a concern for the Barbados Union of Teachers.

Major issues raised by President Pedro Shepherd include single entrances and exits on multi-storey school buildings.

He was speaking at the union's annual general meeting Monday.

While delivering the featured address, Labour Minister, Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo reminded teachers they are free to discuss issues with the relevant stakeholders to ensure their safety in the classroom.
