Jamaican police are searching for answers following a multi-million dollar cocaine seizure on the weekend .
The police report that shortly after 2:00 am (local time) on Sunday, the drug was removed from the hull of a ship that arrived from Valencia, Spain, on Friday.
It’s reported that security personnel saw a metal canister attached to the ship and alerted the police and the Jamaica Customs Contraband Enforcement Team.
Checks revealed that the canister contained 58 rectangular parcels of cocaine.
The police say the illicit drug weighed 75.35 kilograms and has an estimated street value of J$71.63 million.
“No arrest has been made in connection with the seizure, however detectives have intensified their probe into the matter,” the police said. .
