With general elections in the Bahamas just days away, Bahamian students in Barbados are being afforded the opportunity to vote in an advanced poll.

These include students at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Codrington College and the Caribbean Meteorology Institute.

General elections in the Bahamas will take place next Wednesday.

Just over one hundred and eighty-one thousand people are registered to vote.

The parties contesting the poll are the incumbent Progressive Liberal Party, the Free National Movement, the Democratic National Alliance, the Bahamas Constitution Party, the United People's Movement and the Bahamas National Coalition Party.

Bahamian students in Barbados began casting their votes from eight Wednesday morning.

The polls close at six in the evening.

A special team from the Bahamas is in Barbados to supervise the poll.
