Government is now better positioned to give youth the skills necessary to compete in the workforce.
This as the results of a recent employment survey was presented as part of the skills for the future program.
Minister of Labor and Social Partnership Relations, Colin Jordan says work-force development is a major priority for government.
He says young workers must be given the tools to respond to increasing challenges in a changing global environment.
The survey, carried out by Canadian Consultancy firm MSRB, collected data from stakeholders in the creative sector, manufacturing, international business and tourism to find out what skills are necessary.
They also examined stakeholder satisfaction with the skills and capabilities of young people leaving the country's secondary and tertiary institutions.
