Human resource development must always be a priority on Barbados' economic development agenda.
Word of this came from Prime Minister Fruendel Stuart during the pillars of success milestone ceremony at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
It was to celebrate the country's success so far in implementing the Barbados Human Resource Strategy.
Mr Stuart says he's happy with the support of various stakeholders as well as the significant financial support from the European Union toward the success of the development strategy.
Minister of Labour, Esther Byer Suckoo says an agreement was signed between Barbados and the EU in 2011 to help successfully implement the strategy.
She says there were several conditions agreed on between the two parties and her ministry has satisfied all, allowing them to access the entire fifty million Euros in aid being offered.
The main objectives of the strategy include eradicating poverty, improving productivity and competitiveness in government.
Minister Byer-Suckoo lauded stake holders from across a number of sectors who she describes as the champions of the strategy.
