Chief executive officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society James Paul is begging the BADMC to do something about what he is calling a large quantity of imported poultry, especially chicken wings, now appearing on the shelves of the island's supermarkets.

Mr. Paul says Barbados produces 10 million birds locally and has the capacity to raise that number.

He contends there is no need for heavy importation of American poultry, and that actions are being taken that could compromise long term local production.

Mr. Paul adds that local producers must be protected and the authorities have a duty to ensure a level playing field.
