It was a night to celebrate the achievements of the previous year when the Barbados Cricket Association held its 2017 awards ceremony in the President's Suite at Kensington Oval.
The two major awards were presented to Hayley Matthews of Angela Harris Tridents and Jomel Warrican of Empire Club, who were the most outstanding female and male cricketers of the year respectively.
All-rounder Matthews received a cash prize of one thousand dollars and a trophy, while left arm spinner Warrican took home a trophy and two thousand five hundred dollars.
The Barbados Under-15 team that recently secured back to back titles were the toast of the night, as they were led by Captain Nymar Bolden on stage.
Meanwhile, the President's Award went to West Indies batsman Shai Hope.
Featured speaker Mac Fingall noted that no longer can performances on the field of play be the only determining factor for selection to the national team.
