The 2018 sugar cane harvest is moving on as expected and is experiencing anticipated teething problem which are customary at this time.
This is according to a senior agricultural official who anticipates a vast improvement in operations as they get further into the crop season.
And only one day after the start of this year's sugar harvest, there's an appeal for the sugar industry to be modernised.
The appeal is coming from Chief Agricultural Officer Lennox Chandler.
He says they're several benefits to planting the crop.
Mr. Chandler however does not believe the sugar cane grown should be used solely to produce sugar.
