Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley had extensive discussions on issues pertaining to climate change today, Monday 25 October.
This as she met with Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund, Yannick Glemarec and then with Executive Director of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre, Dr Colin Young, at Ilaro Court.
Mr Glemarec and his team are in Barbados from October 24 to 26.
Those attending the talks with the Prime Minister and Dr Young, included Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Dr Jerome Walcott; Minister of the Environment and National Beautification, Adrian Forde; Minister of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy, Kirk Humphrey; Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment, Marsha Caddle; and Barbados’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, with special responsibility for Climate Change, SIDS issues and Law of the Sea, Elizabeth Thompson.
Meanwhile, Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment, Marsha Caddle, other Government officials, along with Mr Glemarec, his team and Dr Young, toured several sites on the island today.
During the tour, the officials discussed climate resilience, climate change and mitigation. Finding innovative ways to manage the water crisis, and disaster management, were also the focus of discussion.
